Certificate of secrecy (IR820)
This form is to be signed by staff from other government departments or agencies, and contractors, who have access to Inland Revenue information.
The form describes their obligations under sections 86 and/or 87 of the Tax Administration Act 1994 to maintain and aid in maintaining the secrecy of all Inland Revenue information.
- Accident Compensation Corporation staff will need to sign both Part A and Part B as they are likely to receive information from IR under provisions that trigger both sections.
- Most Ministry of Social Development staff will need to sign Part B only. However, if they are receiving information from Inland Revenue regarding NZ Superannuation, they will also need to sign Part A.
- All other individuals (e.g. other government employees, contractors) will need to sign Part B only.
